Worship\/Liturgy Ministry<\/strong><\/p><\/h1><\/div>
<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Worship is central to the Catholic Church. Numerous ministry activities are\u00a0involved which contribute to the celebration of the Eucharist, devotions and other\u00a0liturgies at the churches of St. Damien Catholic Parish. Ministry in these areas is\u00a0actually a Calling.<\/p>\n

Areas of Worship\/Liturgy are: Liturgy, Sacristans, Eucharistic Minister, Communion to the homebound, lectors, Liturgical music, hospitality, petitioners, altar servers, sound system, and special liturgies of weddings and funerals. For more information call:\u00a0ph: 808-553-5220<\/p>\n<\/div>

<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Liturgy Committee:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Prepares the environment for Eucharistic\u00a0celebrations and oversee the logistics of these celebrations.<\/p>\n

Communion to Homebound:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Takes Communion and the Word of God to\u00a0parishioners who cannot come to Mass.<\/p>\n

Lectors<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lectors proclaim the word of the Lord at weekend masses\u00a0and special liturgical events.<\/p>\n

Ministers of Hospitality:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ministers of hospitality are the greeters\/ushers who are visible at every Mass and the\u00a0special occasions of the Church to offer a warm welcome to all as they\u00a0arrive to worship. Before Mass, help seat arriving persons, especially\u00a0visitors and those in need of assistance. Assist in collection, pass out bulletins and provide miscellaneous\u00a0assistance, as needed during mass.<\/p>\n

Petitioners:<\/strong><\/p>\n

With \u201cPrayers of the Faithful\u201d portion of the celebration of mass, prepares and\/or read\u00a0intentions of the Church, world, nation, state and local community during\u00a0Mass.<\/p>\n

Worship Space Environment<\/strong><\/p>\n

D\u00e9cor\/Flowers for Church:\u00a0Plan and decorate each of the three churches,\u00a0inside & out, in ways that are both liturgically correct and conducive to our\u00a0faith community\u2019s spiritual growth.<\/p>\n

Sound at St. Damien Church:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Set-up sound system before Masses and other\u00a0special functions at St. Damien of Molokai Church, be available to provide\u00a0assistance with sound, as needed.<\/p>\n<\/div>

<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Sacristans:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Sacristans prepare the altar for Mass and\u00a0other liturgical celebrations. At the end of the Liturgy, the Sacristans\u00a0return all liturgical books and vessels to the Sacristy.<\/p>\n

Eucharistic Ministers:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Assists in the distribution of the Body and Blood of\u00a0Christ during Mass.<\/p>\n

Liturgical Music:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cantor\/Song Leader<\/p>\n

The Cantor\/Song Leader’s main role is to sing the Responsorial Psalm and\u00a0lead the congregation in music during the Eucharistic celebration and to ensure\u00a0the assembly participates in singing.<\/p>\n

Singers\/choir\/instruments:\u00a0Provides music for the Eucharistic celebration with joyful noise<\/p>\n

Weddings:<\/strong><\/p>\n

For the purpose of this ministry, must be able to work\u00a0with the couple to determine dates for wedding, paying particular attention\u00a0to the clergy schedule, plan the Wedding celebration, setting up the\u00a0church, cleaning and restoring the Church area. For the couple, marriage\u00a0preparation starts with meeting with the priest or deacon, attending an\u00a0Engaged Encounter weekend, and completing the Focus instrument\u00a0administered by a couple or the priest.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Special Liturgies:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Funerals<\/strong><\/p>\n

For the purpose of this ministry, must be able to work\u00a0with the family of the deceased to determine dates for services,\u00a0planning\u00a0the Liturgy services, setting up the church for the service,\u00a0paying particular attention\u00a0to the clergy schedule,\u00a0cleaning and\u00a0restoring the Church area at the conclusion of the service.<\/p>\n

Weddings<\/strong><\/p>\n

For the purpose of this ministry, must be able to work\u00a0with the couple to determine dates for wedding, paying particular attention\u00a0to the clergy schedule, plan the Wedding celebration, setting up the\u00a0church, cleaning and restoring the Church area.
