The Lord be with you this Holy Thursday 2020!
If we truly believe in the real presence of our Lord Jesus Christ in the Eucharist and in the Tabernacle, then we truly believe in His power to wash away all the bad things in our lives and cleanse us of all that takes us away from His mercy, compassion, forgiveness and love!
This Holy Thursday brings us closer to the Foot Washing Jesus, closer to the One who gave His life that we might live in the light and love of God.
May His Presence forever be with us through the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and through all the priests throughout the world who celebrate this great Sacrament as intercessors, like the Great Intercessor, Jesus Christ our Lord!
May Almighty God bless us, + In the Name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Scripture:
In today’s readings, we hear of saving events from the Old and New Testaments.
In the First Reading’s Book of Exodus, the blood of the lamb protected the Hebrew people in Egypt from the angel of death in the first Passover, remembered year after year at this time.
“No destructive blow will come upon you.” (Exodus 12)
And, in the First Letter of Paul to the Corinthians, we hear the words of Jesus at the Last Supper.
“This is my body that is for you. Do this in remembrance of me. This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the death of the Lord until he comes.”
And, in the Gospel verse and the Gospel.
“Love one another as I have loved you, says the Lord.”
