The last reigning monarch of the Kingdom of Hawaii, Queen Lili’uokalani, wrote a song entitled “He Pule (A Prayer)” in which she says:

“Regard us, O Lord,
Your servants
As we ask for
Your patience.

Feed us
With heavenly manna,
May your Spirit continue
The cleanliness of our hearts.

Deliver us
From all evil,
Give goodness
And peace.

For blessings,
Praise be
The name of the Father,
The Son, and Spirit. Amen.

(translation by Hui Hānai, from “The Queen’s Songbook, Her Majesty Queen Lili’uokalani”, Barbara B. Smith, Editor, Hui Hānai, Honolulu, HI, 1999)

So it is with us. Give us the patience we need, Lord, to weather and adapt to our situations with love and compassion, + In the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Today’s Scripture speaks of the powerful wisdom, spirit and authority of God and that if we follow it, we will be blessed. And, that we should live by God’s Word, through Jesus Christ, because it is the food that endures for eternal life.

Scripture:

” . . . they could not withstand the wisdom and the Spirit . . . ” (Acts 6)

“Blessed are they who follow the law of the Lord!” (Psalm 119)

“One does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4)

“Do not work for food that perishes but for the food that endures for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you.” (John 6)

Blessings, pule and pono to you!
