Peace be with all on this feast of St. Pope Paul VI!
I remember growing up in the Catholic Church, when Vatican II was taking place. It was in the mid 1960’s and Pope John XXIII had just died and Pope Paul VI became Pope. It was Pope Paul VI who shepherded the church through that time of change with all the changes that Vatican II was asking for. Now, Pope Paul VI is a saint.
Well, we also are going through a time of change in our church right now. Things are different from just a few months ago. For some, it will be a very challenging time. For others, it will be a time for renewed faith, hope and love.
The Scripture today speaks of the benefits of the Lord and of his unsurpassing kindness. They speak of the Holy Spirit instructing and Jesus asking us to put our love of Him into action by feeding and tending one another so that we can follow him more closely.
Scripture:
“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits. So surpassing is his kindness.” (Psalm 103)
“The Holy Spirit will teach you everything and remind you of all I told you.” (John 14)
“Do you love me? Feed my lambs. Tend my sheep. Follow me.” (John 21)
Blessings, pono and pule!
