Aloha!
Jesus says in next weekend’s readings to “Come to me” to receive, eat, delight and have life with Him. It is the hand of the Lord that feeds us and answers all our needs. It is the Lord that satisfies. Amen.
In this 17th week in Ordinary time, we celebrate several saints:
Wednesday, St. Martha: Sister of Lazarus of Bethany whom Jesus raised from the dead. Patron of cooks, domestic workers, maids & housewives.
Thursday, St. Peter Chrysologus: Bishop & Doctor of the Church, famous for his homilies
Friday, St. Ignatius of Loyola: Priest. Patron of all spiritual retreats and co-founder of the Jesuit Order
Saturday, St. Alphonsus Liguori: Bishop & Doctor of the Church. Patron of lawyers, arthritis victims, and confessors
Scripture (for next weekend):
“Come…come…receive…come…drink…heed…eat…delight…come…listen…have life…renew” (Isaiah 55)
“The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and of great kindness. The hand of the Lord feeds us; he answers all our needs.” (Psalm 145)
“What will separate us from the love of Christ?” (Romans 8)
“Moved with pity, he cured their sick. They all ate and were satisfied.” (Matthew 14)
