Aloha nui to all!

As we begin the 29th week of Ordinary Time and over 7 months of pandemic, we have in next weekend’s Gospel a roadmap to living a successful Christian life: Love God! Love yourself! Love your neighbor!

It may sound simple, but we all know it is a challenge. It is a challenge because we don’t think we have the strength to love all three passionately. Well, Jesus says that we do! He says that, with the help of the Holy Spirit, we have the strength and the power to do all three, because they all come from the same love, the love that God has placed in our hearts through Baptism. It is a matter of priorities. Are our priorities something other than these three? Can we drop those priorities and take up our crosses to re-prioritize ourselves with God, self and neighbor?

Let us listen to the Gospel for next weekend:

“You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matthew 22)
