Peace be with you!

As we begin this 33rd week of Ordinary Time in our church year, we look forward to proclaiming Jesus Christ as our king next weekend and proclaiming the servant leader that Jesus promoted. Kingship has responsibilities, the main one being to serve the people. If we proclaim Jesus as our Lord and Savior, then we proclaim him as our model for servanthood and sainthood. Servants are saints, but they also practice a different style of kingship than what many people think of kingship. A king who becomes one of his subjects knows how to lead them. This is the universal teaching of Jesus. “The last shall be first and the first shall be last.” Amen!

This coming week we celebrate the lives of 5 women who modeled servant leadership in how they served others:

Monday: St. Margaret of Scotland & St. Gertrude, virgin
Tuesday: St. Elizabeth of Hungary, religious
Wednesday: St. Rose Philippine Duchesne, virgin
Saturday: Blessed Virgin Mary, Presentation

“Amen, I say to you, what you did not do for one of these least ones, you did not do for me.” (Matthew 25)

Blessings, pono and pule!
