It is this prayer and community that this coming Sunday’s gospel speaks of as Jesus teaches his disciples about its power.
Let us use these gifts of prayer and community to bolster our own spirits in this time of challenge.
This week we celebrate several things:
Monday is Labor Day so we should pray for all those who labor for the bread they eat and especially pray for those who have lost their jobs during this pandemic. That the dignity of work, no matter how much or little that work is, be upheld and blessed as we celebrate Labor Day.
Tuesday we celebrate the birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary and for all she represents to us in the way of faith, hope and love.
Wednesday is the feast of St. Peter Claver, a priest who ministered to African slaves in Columbia, South America.
Saturday is the celebration of the Most Holy Name of Mary, our Blessed Mother.
Scripture:
“If two of you agree on earth about anything for which they are to pray, it shall be granted to them by my heavenly Father. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” (Matthew 18)
Blessings, pono and pule!
