Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! He has risen! The Lord has overcome death and has been resurrected!
This Easter is unlike any Easter we have ever experienced in our lifetimes.
As we celebrate the Resurrection of the Lord, let us reflect on the Paschal Mystery, that life comes through death, and apply it to our present situation. There was a mythical bird called the Phoenix that was said to rise out of the ashes into life.
Here on Molokai, we have the witness of so many brothers and sisters who lived and died here as outcasts, considered dead to the world.
And, we have the witness of those who were their kokuas, the many saints who helped these outcasts in their isolation and loneliness.
The parallels between those times and today are striking. And, we have the unbounded hope of life rising from death!
So, let us celebrate this Great Paschal Mystery, this Easter Sunday of the Year of Our Lord 2020!
May Almighty God bless you, + In the Name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Scripture:
