May, 2014 marked the 150 year anniversary since Fr. Damien arrived in Hawaii. The Sacred Heart Congregation in Hawaii put together a 2 day event in celebration of the anniversary. Two masses were held at the Neil S. Blaisdell Arena on May 9th and on May 10th (St. Damien’s Feast Day) a mass was held at the Cathedral of Our Lady Of Peace in Honolulu. A rally and a prayer service was held in front of the Damien statue at the State Capitol following that mass.
